The cooking class with Dwi was a great way to start our adventure. After that we only had beautiful days.

Unforgettable!

In Yogyakarta the bike ride through the rice fields and the cooking workshop of Mrs. Dwi Supardi were unforgettable!

Jessica& Arco from the Netherlands (September 2024) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The cooking class and the dinner was unforgettable

“We had three tour days starting from Airport pick-up in Yogyakarta. We had a lot of activities that we had agreed before booking and I really have to say thank you to Pardi because he was so patient with all my requests and he managed to fit all in the time we had. Other than the”must see” in the area, the cooking class and the dinner we had with his wife was unforgettable, as well as the batik course (we really made our batik from scratch experiencing different techniques).
He also organized the long transfer to Malang.
All went smoothly.”

A Culinary Exploration

private tour street food

Explore the vibrant food culture and traditions of Jogja on this popular tour.

Beginning in the late afternoon or early evening, you’ll savor some of the city’s finest dishes at its favorite eateries. Over the course of about 3.5 hours, you’ll sample a variety of foods from different locations. (Food and drinks are included!)

Authentic tastes

No visit to Yogyakarta is complete without trying its unique culinary delights. The city offers a variety of snacks that provide genuine tastes you won’t find anywhere else. From the sweetness of market treats to the savory tastes of street food, each bite connects you to the rich heritage of the local community.

You don’t need to dine at pricey restaurants for a true culinary adventure; a street food tour reveals the essence of authentic flavors.

Accompanied by your guide, you’ll explore the best street food Yogyakarta has to offer, either on the back of a motorbike or by car, discovering hidden gems that you might miss on your own.

Ancestral Traditions

At the market, you’ll feel the vibrant atmosphere. Wander through the food stalls, engage with friendly vendors, and savor recipes that have been passed down through generations. These unique snacks can’t be found in supermarkets, restaurants, or shopping centers. Most are crafted by older people, who are known for their meticulous preparation. Additionally, these skilled women often hold tightly to the cherished recipes passed down from their grandmothers and great-grandmothers.

tour in the evening streetfoodCultural Diversity and Traditions

It’s clear that street food is a beloved choice among locals. Each dish reflects the diverse cultures and philosophies behind traditional Indonesian cuisine.

For instance, tasting the sweetness of Madura satay compared to the flavors of Padang satay showcases the rich cultural tapestry of Indonesia.

Experience Indonesia through the eyes of the locals. Enjoying a meal while seated cross-legged at a food cart not only offers a unique culinary experience but also allows you to connect with the local community and take a moment to relax amid the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Evening Stroll

At the end of our tour, we’ll visit a beloved spot that has been popular since 1980. This square in the heart of Jogjakarta is a gathering place for locals to relax and enjoy themselves.

Renowned for its delicious tea and snacks, we’ll also partake in a traditional game. In Indonesia, abbreviations are common, so when locals invite you to play “Masangin,” they’re referring to “Masuk Dua Beringin,” or “Walking Between the Banyan Trees.”

The rules are simple: anyone who can walk between the two Banyan trees with their eyes closed will see their wishes come true. It sounds easy, but many find it challenging! The myths surrounding these twin Banyan trees add an enchanting layer to this central Yogyakarta location, blending ancient stories with the city’s modern vibrancy.
